Jordan T. Meade To Face Triple Murder Charges In Onslow

On March 27, 2020, at 10:20 a.m., patrol deputies with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office responded to 1020 Birchwood Lane, Jacksonville, to investigate a report of an abandoned vehicle. Burlington Police Department had discovered an abandoned SUV in the Burlington area and requested the Onslow County Sheriff's Office to check on the vehicle's registered owner who lived at 1020 Birchwood Lane. Upon arrival, two victims Emmitt Hawks Sr and Geraldine Hawks were discovered deceased from gunshot wounds inside the residence. Upon further investigation, an additional victim Jackqueline Meade was found deceased from multiple gunshot wounds next door at 1018 Birchwood Ln, Jacksonville. The investigation by the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office determined that the victims at both residences were related, with the victim at 1018 Birchwood being the daughter of the victims at 1020 Birchwood. Missing from 1020 Birchwood Lane was a burgundy 2019 Ford Explorer, which was the vehicle recovered by the Burlington Police Department. A suspect was identified as Jordan Tyshon Meade, of 2018 Birchwood Lane. Jordan Meade is the son of Jackqueline Meade and the grandson of Emmitt and Geraldine Hawks.

A statewide search began for Meade who was located on Saturday, March 28, 2020, at a grocery store by the Burlington Police Department in Burlington NC. Detectives with the Onslow County Sheriff’s Office transported Jordan Meade back to Onslow County. Upon review of the evidence, and witness statements gathered by detectives and the Onslow County District Attorney, Meade was charged with three counts of murder. Meade was also charged with larceny of a motor vehicle, possession of a stolen motor vehicle, larceny of a firearm, and possession of a stolen firearm. Meade was held in the Onslow County Detention Center with no bond pending courtroom disposition.

On Monday, September 11, 2023, Jordan Meade appeared in Onslow County Superior Court and pled guilty to (3) Counts of First-Degree Murder, Felonious Larceny of a Motor Vehicle, Felonious Larceny of a Firearm. Jordan Meade was sentenced to three consecutive life sentences without parole, plus an additional two and a half years for the additional charges.
