As the temperatures drop and the holiday season approaches, you may notice some extra scruff on the faces of our Surf City Police Department officers. That’s because this November, our department is proudly participating in No Shave November—and it’s all for a great cause!
Traditionally, No Shave November is a movement to raise awareness and funds for various charitable causes. This year, Surf City PD is using the opportunity to support two special programs that directly benefit our local community: Shop with a Cop and providing holiday meals to families in need.
How No Shave November Helps Our Community
By forgoing grooming standards this month, our officers are raising awareness and funds that will go toward making the holidays a little brighter for Surf City families. Here’s how:
Shop with a Cop: The funds raised will be used for the Shop with a Cop program, where local officers accompany children from underprivileged families to shop for holiday gifts. This event not only provides much-needed presents for kids, but it also fosters positive relationships between the police and the community. For many kids, this experience can create lasting memories of joy and support during the holidays.
Holiday Meals: In addition to Shop with a Cop, the donations collected during No Shave November will be used to provide holiday meals to Surf City families in need. The holidays can be a stressful time, especially for those struggling to make ends meet. These meals will help ease that burden and ensure that everyone in our community can enjoy a festive, hearty dinner with their loved ones.
