Surf, Paddle & Peddle with George Howard of On Shore Surf Shop
The first ESA Central District surf contest of the season was a resounding success, with Surf City proving to be the perfect venue. Competitors were met with clean, consistent 3-foot waves, providing ideal conditions for high-level performances. Though early morning fog caused a brief one-hour delay, the contest officially got underway at 9:00 AM and ran smoothly for the remainder of the day.
Despite the initial visibility challenges, judges navigated the conditions with precision, ensuring fair and accurate scoring. Standout performances emerged throughout the event, with Surf City’s own Emerson delivering an impressive showing to claim first place in his division.
Team Onshore had an exceptional day, securing two first-place and three second place finishes in the men’s divisions, along with two first-place victories in the women’s divisions. The event was proudly sponsored by Onshore Surf Shop and Shaka Taco, both of which continue to support the local surfing community.
The next ESA Central District contest is set for April 10 at Oceana Pier in Atlantic Beach. Surfers looking to compete are encouraged to sign up in advance.
The Eastern Surfing Association (ESA) remains a premier platform for amateur surfers looking to develop their skills and compete at higher levels. Under the leadership of Wes and Tim, the ESA Central District continues to foster talent and provide top-tier competitive opportunities.
See you next month on the beach!
